    DIY Grape Chia Seed Drink

    02.09.2017 · recipes · 0

I haven’t always been health conscious but I find that as I get older the more I pay attention to my health. Not only because I can no longer stuff my mouth with late night pizza and not gain any weight but because health is so important (totally cliché but so true). I’m always looking for new ways to incorporate healthy habits, foods, and exercise into my crazy busy life.

On top of healthy relationships, exercise, and getting a healthy dose of Netflix each night, food plays the most important role in our health (my opinion). Not just any ol’ food, I’m talking high polyphenol foods. Poly-what? Just think colorful like reds, purples, & blues. Polyphenols are great for heart health.

February is American Heart Month and it’s never too late to start creating healthy habits and improving your over health. Welch’s 100% Grape Juice makes it so easy to maintain and support a healthy heart by providing a delicious beverage that has no artificial sugars and is made with high polyphenol concord grapes.

    DIY GRAPE CHIA SEED DRINK

    diy chia seed grape drink

I love drinking my way to health and I used to be a frequent buyer of those chia seed drinks but man are they pricey for a girl on a tight budget. So I did what any smart girl would do, google how to make it myself! 🙂 Oh and find a coupon!

This is such an easy recipe using only 3 ingredients, if you count water. I used 100% Welch’s Grape Juice, chia seeds, and water for this diy chia seed grape drink and it came out delicious!

**WARNING** You must soak the chia seeds in water. You can’t just toss them into the grape juice and call it good. Like most fruits, grapes are acidic and chia seeds won’t swell in an acidic environment. Trust me! I tried and I failed lol

    RECIPE

    1. 1 cup Welch’s Grape Juice
    2. 1 cup of Water
    3. 3 tbsp of chia seeds (soaked in water first)

Don’t forget to grab you coupon to save on Welch’s 100% Grape Juice.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did.

super interesting fact about the chia seeds needing water to expand. I wasn’t aware of that! I also never thought to combine ’em w/ a fruit juice…normally I just put them in my smoothies, but this is a much easier way to work them into my daily routine! x, nicole // http://www.nicoleeigh.com

Making your own Chia seed drink is the way to go-the permade options are pricy so I always feel guilty buying them (yet somehow I justify Starbucks daily, ha)!

I recently bought a jar of chia seeds but always forget to include it in my smoothies. I love the simplicity of this recipe – the less I have to do, the more likely that I’ll actually do it, ha!
