Mount Laguna Sunrise and Buffalo Bill’s Cafe

    11.08.2016 · travel · 0

Hi loves! I hope you had an amazing weekend. Last weekend has been one of the first weekend Andrew hasn’t been busy with school. We are a little obsessed with sunrises and sunsets, and love watching them any chance we can get. Finally we had time to watch the sunrise in our not so secret spot (so many other people there). In the winter the sun is more south and it gets blocked by hills. So it was a bummer that we couldn’t actually see the sun rise but that didn’t put a damper on the beautiful view. Mount Laguna SunriseIt was so peaceful at the peak and such a perfect morning. You could even see the Salton Sea which is about 80 miles away. The land we overlooked is the land that used to be occupied by the Kumeyaay people. It’s amazing to think that thousands of years ago this land was home to so many natives.

Mount Laguna SunriseEvery time I watch the sunrise I always have The Beatles song “Here Comes the Sun” in my head haha. I’m a hard core Beatles fan and was slightly obsessed with them in my teenage years. My grandma even took me a Beatles tribute band concert when I was 16. Yes, I was a weird hippie chick in high school and slightly nerdy. Don’t judge me lol.

After we watch the sun come up of course we had to get a couple picture. Thank God for tripods and wireless remotes. Those two things are lifesavers for getting group or couple photos when you don’t have anyone around to take them for you.

Mount Laguna Sunrise Mount Laguna SunriseAfter dragging my butt out of bed at 4:30 am and freezing my hands off, it was definitely time to hit up our favorite breakfast spot in Julian, CA. They say don’t judge a book by it’s cover and I say never judge a cafe by it’s building. You never know what gem you’re going to find. We’ve been to tow other breakfast places in Julian. Julian Cafe and Granny’s Kitchen, but Buffalo Bill’s Cafe is by far the best breakfast in town. You get the most bang for your buck and the coffee keeps flowing.

Buffalo Bill's Cafe Julian California Buffalo Bill's Cafe Julian California On top of the food being really good, the staff is always super friendly. It’s the kind of hospitality that is hard to find at restaurants down in the city. One of the many things I love about Julian. The people are friendly, the air is fresh, and you’re surrounded by nature.

Buffalo Bill's Cafe Julian California Buffalo Bill's Cafe Julian California I love getting out of the city. After living in San Diego for over 10 years, I think it’s time for a change soon. Living out in the country where there’s wide open spaces and nature all around me has been a lifelong dream of mine. Hopefully once Andrew finishes his schooling we will be headed out of the state and on the search for our own little piece of paradise. Montana maybe? We shall see. 🙂

are you the city slicker or small town type?

if you could live anywhere, where would you live?

Let me know in the comments below! <3

Hi Christine! Nice to digitally meet you. The sunrise look gorgeous, but I’m such a terrible night owl the only way I ever see one is if I’ve been up the whole night haha. I love a good breakfast place as well, and if I’m ever in Julian I’ll have to try this out! I’m on a personal mission to find the best brunch everywhere I go… If I could live anywhere, I’d probably move my whole family to San Francisco. I went out there a few years ago with my boyfriend and fell completely in love with it!

Nice to meet you too! I would totally be a night owl if it weren’t for my boyfriend haha. San Francisco is so rich in history and culture. I’ve been there a couple of times. It’s still to much city for me. 🙂

Wow that scenery looks amazing and that cafe was so quaint. The buffalo head on the wall was definitely a nice touch. 🙂
