How to Shorten Pura Vida Bracelets

    01.17.2018 · diy · 0

how to shorten pura vida bracelets for small wrists

Ok, here’s the real problem with having teeny wrists. Nothing fits on them! ?? It’s quite frustrating when you find the cutest little bracelets and watches but they are so lose. Well I don’t have the solution for all the bracelets in the world but I do have a solution for Pura Vida Bracelets.

How to Shorten Pura Vida Bracelets

    Size It Up

So let’s talk about sizing. First you’ll have to see how much you can shorten your bracelet in order to still be able to get it on.

To do this,  simply put on the bracelet and tighten. Slowly slide the ties until you can roll the bracelet off your hand. Don’t worry about it being a little tight because the new knots you make will move a little.

    The Knot

Now that you have your size, carefully slide the bracelet off your wrist. Now you can make two new overhand knots.

You want to make sure that your knots slide all the way down to the base of the bracelet slider thingy ?. Pull the bracelet like you were opening it to its full length and pull pretty tight. This will help tighten the knots and this is where your knot will move just a little. Don’t skip this step because you don’t want your knots to loosen after you have shortened the bracelet.

    Clip It

Now it’s time to commit yourself to your bracelet size. It might be a good idea so try and slip on your bracelet one more time before you cut off the old length.

Once you’re ready to commit, cut just above the new knots. You should have a little end sticking out.

    Burn Baby, Burn

Last step of this tough process, I promise ?.

That little end sticking out? Burn it with a lighter but only to the knot. Then give it a little tap with your finger to help it cool and set. And that’s it! You’re ready to rock your Pura Vida bracelets on your teeny little wrist.

And there you have it! Now you can wear those pretty Pura Vida bracelets without all the annoying long strings hanging all over the place. ???

I hope you try this out for yourself! It’s a game changer and you’ll be wishing you did this earlier.

Never thought of using a lighter to seal it!

I remember these from my college days! I never owned any but this would be so useful for those who wear lots of Pura Vida!

I almost never wear bracelets because I have small wrists but with this trick, I think I’ll be getting more bracelets this year! What a great idea!

This is so smart! I’m not a huge bracelet person because I find them annoying when I am typing at work, but I could definitely wear something like this!

I have teeny wrists too so I generally just avoid buying bracelets haha. Great idea to re-size them!

I don’t really wear bracelets, but this is a fantastic idea for those that don’t want to stay on! I’ll have to keep this in the back of my head!

Ahhhh this is so helpful! My mom and I have the tiniest wrists, and she is OBSESSED with Pura Vida bracelets! She always buys them in bulk on Black Friday and gives them away as gifts all year – but she can’t wear them herself on her little wrists! I will send her this!

I wonder though, how Pura Vida does it because they don’t have the darkened ends?
I tried and the light colored bracelets blacken from flame.

That’s a great question! Maybe they don’t use a flame and just use a heated rod or solder iron?
