10 Self-Love Practices that will Bring Happiness to your Life

    02.14.2016 · advice · 0

As we are in the season of all things LOVE, I want to talk about Self-Love. Yes there is such a thing and yes we forget that it’s something we need to practice on a daily basis. We get so busy and caught up pleasing those around us that we barely have the time or energy to spend on ourselves. This my darlings is a problem. We need to fall in love with ourselves. I’m not talking about vanity or narcissism, I’m talking about loving who we are as a person and embracing our flaws with grace. Spending time on yourself is not a crime so here are some ways to totally rock the s*!t out of Self-Love. 😉

[Tweet “Stop hating yourself for everything you aren’t. Start loving yourself for everything that you are.”]

    10 Self-Love Practices

    1. Stop comparing yourself to others

First things first ladies. We have got to stop doing this. Everyone is on their own journey and own chapter in life. Embrace your journey. You are special and unique and don’t need to be like someone else. So own yourself!

    2. Speak self-love mantras

Some self love mantras that I love are:

    • I know who I am and I am enough.
    • I am in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.
    • I love myself. I respect myself. I am beneath no one.
    • I will not determine my self-worth based on my appearance.
    • Self love is a choice. Today I choose to believe in myself and recognize that I have gifts to offer the world.

    3. Sweat it out

Taking care of your body is an act of self-love. Not only is exercise good for your health but releases endorphins and you know what they do… Make you happy. 🙂 So get out there. Know what your capable of and just do it.

    4. Take time to rest and relax

If you’re a “on the go” girl you know what I’m talking about. You have zero time to rest until it’s time to get to bed for a couple of hours and get back up and do it all over again. Take some time on the weekend to just chill and relax. You deserve it girl!

    5. Do that project that you’ve been wanting to work on

We all have it. That list that could keep us busy for a year. We never get to it because we don’t make time for it. Well pick something off of that project list that you’ve been wanting to do and do it. Whether it be painting, baking up some goodies, or completing that do it yourself. Make the time for yourself and your hobbies.

    6. Clean your home

Home is where the heart is and if your home is not a place of peace and order, then chances are you are going to feel stressed and anxious being home without even realizing it. Take that time to clean that space you’ve been avoiding. It’s for you. Fill up a bag of things that you can donate and make a giving project out of it. There’s always someone who will appreciate those dust collecting garments more than you. So make someones day and give them away. Hey that rhymes  ðŸ˜‰

    7. Treat Yo Self

Treat yo self girl. That outfit you’ve been wanting, those shoes (or cowgirl boots 🙂 ) that are telling you to take them home, or that fragrance that makes you feel oh so sexy! Get it. No you don’t have to go on a full blown shopping spree but go ahead and treat yo self.

    8. Dress yourself lovingly in an outfit that makes you feel gorgeous and strong

Appearance is strong. It makes us feel down or feel absolutely alive. Find that outfit that brings out your confidence. Your bliss will shine and those around you will reap the benefits of your radiant and positive energy.

    9. Find a meditation routine

After going through the motions of our busy lives our mind needs a break. Disconnect from electronics and social media and life. Clear your mind. Meditation helps you de-stress, appreciate your life, and bring positive energy to you and those around you.

    10. SMILE

Do I need to take you back to 1982 where Annie sang “Your never fully dressed without a smile.”? Smile girl. You are alive, you are well, you are beautiful, you are strong, you are special.

“A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” ~Phyllis Diller

So there you have it. 10 self-love practices that will change your thinking, mood, and bring happiness to your life. This weekend is all about love but it shouldn’t stop there. Love for yourself should be expressed and practiced throughout the year. So let’s get to it and start with giving yourself a big ol’ bear hug and telling yourself that you are freakin awesome!

    Happy Valentines Day my loves!

    xoxo Chrisitne

I have to do more meditation…it is so good for you. I do a lot of the things on the list so I’m feeling pretty good about that. I love the quote about a smile:)

Find a meditation routine and taking time to rest and relax are the two practices I really need to work on more. Great post.

I love that quote by Phyllis! Awesome. Such a considerate post. Always good reminders. I think in our busy lives we don’t take enough time to ourselves – always weighing in what others want from us instead.

This is really wonderful! Self love is truly the best love of all, and once we love ourselves more and practice unconditional love for ourselves, it offers such freedom and peace. I love your blog! Thanks.
